Bos & Esther E. Bron & Stefan Klein & Jan A. N. Verhaar & Gabriel P. Krestin 2012-01-01 Biochemical MRI with dGEMRIC of the MCP joints of the index and middle fingers was performed with two 4-cm loop surface coils placed above and beneath the MCP joint. The size of the coils and the FOV limited the examina-tion to two adjacent joints: MCP 2 and 3. dGEMRIC was acquired 40 min af-ter contrast agent administration (17). What is the abbreviation for Delayed Gadolinium-enhanced MRI? What does DGEMRIC stand for? DGEMRIC abbreviation stands for Delayed Gadolinium-enhanced MRI. —Plot of delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) index values for glycosaminoglycan distribution (T1 Gd) in 10 volunteers who were followed for 6 months while taking glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate supplements (CosaminDS, Nutramax Laboratories, Edgewood, MD). dGEMRIC (delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage) dGEMRIC, or delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage is a technique that can be used quantitatively to assess glycosaminoglycan content of cartilage or qualitatively to asses the overall structures of cartilage. When the technique is adapted and applied to menisci it is called dGEMRIM.
In dGEMRIC, the clinical MRI contrast agent Gd-DTPA 2À is injected intravenously and, after given time to penetrate the cartilage (''delay'') distributes in Delayed Gadolinium-enhanced MRI Of Cartilage + 1 variant. Radiology, Medical.

Association between delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage
dGEMRIC has been validated by previous studies, showing that it is able to detect patterns of cartilage changes in patients with and at risk of hip and knee OA (19-22). BackgroundLesions in the meniscus are risk factors for developing knee osteoarthritis (OA), not least because of the role of the meniscus in the pathological progression of OA. Delayed gadolinium enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) has extensively been used to identify pre-radiographic cartilage changes in OA. In contrast, its counterpart with regard to examination of the meniscus, gadolinium 2009-06-11 The dGEMRIC MRI protocol is a useful method to evaluate cartilage repair. In addition, local cartilage repair influenced the cartilage quality at other location in the joint.

Background: Delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) is a validated technique for evaluating cartilage health in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), which can be a helpful prognosticator for the response to surgical treatments. dGEMRIC requires intravenous injection of gadolinium contrast, however, which adds time, expense, and

Delayed gadolinium‐enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) is a new imaging technique to estimate joint cartilage glycosaminoglycan content by T 1 ‐relaxation time measurements after penetration of the hydrophilic contrast agent Gd‐DTPA 2‐.This study compares dGEMRIC in age‐matched healthy volunteers with different levels of physical activity: Group 1 (n = 12): nonexercising individuals
Up to the levels of AF and NP, this is reproducible in MRI in dGEMRIC technique, but not in X-ray or standard MRI sequences.

The dGEMRIC (delayed gadolinium enhanced magnetic resonance imaging [MRI] of cartilage) technique has previously been used in the knee and hip as a non-invasive method to evaluate one aspect of cartilage biochemical status, that of the spatial distribution of cartilage glycosaminoglycan (GAG) concentration 6 This article reviews the recent application of delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) and discusses its use for assessing cartilage quality in the hip joint. dGEMRIC is more sensitive to early cartilage changes in osteoarthritis than are radiographic measures and might be a helpful tool for assessing cartilage quality.
